As of Saturday, October 15th…

The Cowboys, thanks to rookie Zeke Elliott, lead the NFL in rushing. The Cowboys are averaging > 155 yards per game and 4.6 yards per carry. Elliott, the league’s rushing leader, has 546 rushing yards and is averaging 109 yards per game and 5 yards per carry.

The Packers on the other hand, are best in the league at stopping the run. They’re giving up only 42 yards per game on the ground and their opponents have averaged only 2 yards per carry.

Keep in mind the season’s early, and neither team has really been challenged yet in those areas. Dallas’s opponents haven’t been the stingiest run defenses. Here’s how their previous opponents currently rank against the run:

Giants: 12th
Redskins: 29th
Bears: 25th
49ers: 31st
Bengals: 21st

Green Bay hasn’t faced any top rushers or rushing offenses yet, either. Here’s how their past opponents rank running the ball:

Jaguars: 32nd
Vikings: 30th
Lions: 20th
Giants: 25th

Regardless, it’s a great match up and something’s gotta give.
